Who is Jenna Avenell-Larson?

Jenna is mother of Anastasia Jane, and wife of Erik Larson.  She also nurtures and babies Astaire the Cat, Ginger Rogers the Chihuahua, and Lola the Dog (yes, the one who dances on the stage)!

Jenna knew from a young age that she wanted to be a small business owner— the idea of climbing the corporate ladder and working long hours, while making some millionaire even more wealthy just didn’t sound like her forte.  Trying to decide or figure out exactly what kind of business she wanted to have was the larger challenge.  Over the years, she has contemplated a wide variety of industries to pursue— accounting, legal, food, and even baby clothing; but they all had one thing in common: Jenna being her own boss!  It wasn’t until her early twenties that she was introduced to the world of ballroom dance (loosely defined as any partner dance), but it was LOVE AT FIRST STEP!

Starting out with “Two Left Feet,” Jenna immersed herself in private lessons, group classes, dance socials as well as dancing at local venues that offered a live band and a dance floor.  Combined, these activities easily totaled 4-10 hours per week for several months.  Jenna knew within 90 days that she wanted to be a dance teacher someday, but also knew that she had A LOT to learn! Jenna was a dedicated student for 5 years before she began learning to be a dance instructor. After a couple years of instructor training, she finally started teaching part-time, and then full-time a few years after that.

In conclusion, after Jenna's passion for dancing and teaching were added to her strong desire to be her own boss as a small business owner, Fancy Feet Ballroom was conceived!

Please keep checking this BLOG for more on Jenna, as well as tips, beginner reference guides and song ideas for practice sessions and Special Events! 😊
